Occult versus Obvious Reality
One answer to that ex nihilo conundrum might be that the properties of Zero are normally hidden in the infinite undefined realm of Potential — in what David Bohm called the “Implicate Order”10 — as opposed to the explicit order of physical reality. Bloom doesn’t assert that such an occult level of reality is a scientific fact, but merely something to think about. In this blog, I have expanded on that possibility, by combining Bohm’s invisible “order”, with Quantum entanglement, and with Infinity. Which may tax the imagination of most readers. And may be why Bloom passed over it, to avoid getting entangled in super-
Which leads him into the next chapter on “deep structures” and “fractal patterns” and “founding axioms” that reveal themselves only to modern computers capable of reiterating simple rules millions of time, until un-
“isomorphic” literally means “same underlying Form”, as in Platonic Ideals and Aristotelian Archetypes.
Leonardo da Vinci had a knack for noticing those isomorphic commonalities between things in the world. “How does Leonardo account for this existence of a common pattern seemingly underlying the behavior . . . He puts it down to a fundamental handful of rules underpinning all of nature, underlying all of ‘Necessity’. What is that handful of rules? Leonardo says it’s called ‘Reason’. It’s the logic . . .” Later, Galileo called those natural rules “laws”, established and enforced by God. Awed by the clear signs of Logos in the world, Leo exclaimed, “This is what guides the human discourse in the considering of divine things.” But Bloom doesn’t take the bait, and continues his argument for laws without a lawgiver.
Yet, he does continue to hammer on the ubiquity of those metaphorical “laws” that are simply necessities. We can only understand those mysterious regularities in the figurative language of analogies between sublime and mundane concepts. “Metaphorical thinking works. But why?” he says. “The answer is in iteration. The answer is in translation. The answer is in . . . ‘primitives’. The answer is in Ur patterns.” And “ur” refers to essential properties that were installed in the world by the creative act of the Big Bang. Metaphorically, they are the operating system downloaded from the Singularity, to control the evolutionary process that is currently computing Singularity & Simplicity into emergent Novelty & Complexity.

10. Implicate Order :
“The implicate (also referred to as the "enfolded") order is seen as a deeper and more fundamental order of reality. In contrast, the explicate or "unfolded" order include the abstractions that humans normally perceive.”
In my own musings, I propose that quantum entanglement (enfolded) occurs in unitary Infinity, in which nothing is actual, but all things are possible.
The Implicate realm may be where Virtual particles hide before they are trans-
11. Occult Reality :
Bohm and Bloom imagine a phase of reality that lies hidden from the normal human senses. But, instead of advocating ancient occult practices, they anticipate that Science will eventually invade that spooky realm with technological insights. I think it’s already there, with Quantum Theory.
