  Theory of Enformed Systems

   Enformation is a verb

 Before he delves into technical concepts related to the Theory of Enformed Systems, the author clarifies that “like energy or mass, enformy is not an object or a substance, but a theoretical quantity that is not directly observable”. Although I agree with the intent of that assertion, I would quibble with the word choice. Physical “quantities” are by definition observable and quantifiable. So, Enformy is more like a metaphysical Quality or Property of the world, which is inferred by reasoning from observation of matter in action. Like Energy, we know it by what it does, not by what it is. Qualities are not perceptual, but conceptual. The technical section includes another bold statement that I must nit-pick : “Because the concept of organization logically precedes and is foundational to, the established concepts of information, energy, and matter, the concept of organization and its expressions cannot be explain-ed in terms of information, energy, or matter”. My “nit” is the lower-case “information”, which I differentiate from upper-case Information9. It's true that Claude Shannon's pragmatic definition of “information” as an empty carrier deliberately excluded its traditional function as the contents of mental ideas that we know as Meaning. For example, the Combat Inform-ation Center on a warship is not the locus of passive Shannon information, which could mean anything, but dynamic inform-ation, that has specific actionable meaning.

The Theory of Enformed Systems entails several basic concepts, some of which require novel terminology to encapsulate the hypothetical and heterodox10 notions. And some of which are primarily the subjects of esoteric paranormal research.

• A Holistic System is defined as “the sum of its parts, plus a four-dimensional map of the relationships among these parts in space and time”.  

• The Four Dimensional Map “is a dynamic, active, “organizing field”.  (a Field in physics is a mathematical concept, but like the Electro-Magnetic Field, it has physical effects)

• These fields have certain “fundamental properties that maintain its own integrity”. Examples : a> Photons -- wave/paricle duality; b> Living Systems : self-awareness, perception, cognition, memory, and motor activity.

• The properties of sub-fields “allow them to cohere in spacetime”, so that we can discriminate between  them as separate phenomena : a> Photons – quantum entanglement; b> Complex Organisms – telepathy, precognition, psychokinesis, etc. (note : these are hypothetical phenomena, and not accepted by mainstream science)
