Explicit and Impicit Reality
Bohm’s “hidden variables” were described in terms of two “orders” or categories of physical phenomena. The explicate⁶ (obvious, superficial, material) order is what empirical scientists study ; the implicate (implicit , inferable, metaphysical) organ-ization is what theoretical philosophers study. Each order can be studied from a particular point of view, or frame of reference : materialism vs idealism ; objective vs subjective. The explicate world is what we perceive with eyes ; the implicate world is what we conceive with minds. Concepts are abstract models (interpretations) of observed reality. As implied by Quantum Physics, Bohm’s philosophical theory views Structure and Process as more important than particular objects. Struct-ure is Form (configuration) and Process is Action (causation). And both of those fundamental aspects of reality are combined into my own EnFormAction⁷ concept. Likewise, Smuts’ theory implies that Holism is an "unobserved force", in the sense that it metaphysically & metaphorically binds instances into systems. I define that force as the power to organize independent parts into interdependent wholes.
Bohm described the primary role of the implicate order in terms of space and structure : “My attitude is that the mathematics of the quantum theory deals primarily with the structure of the implicate pre-space and with how an explicate order of space and time emerges from it, rather than with movements of physical entities, such as particles and fields”. His “pre-space” may be my Information Field⁸ : logical rather than physical relationships. For example, quantum entangle-ment of paired particles does not require faster-than-light transmission of information or causation, in the normal sense. That’s because the apparent pair is actually an integrated whole system. So, the causal influence may be Formal, not Material. And Aristotle's Formal Cause is design or purpose.
In the case of consciousness, “Bohm pointed toward evidence presented by Karl Pribram that memories may be enfolded within every region of the brain rather than being localized (for example, in particular regions of the brain, cells, or atoms)”. In my thesis, EnFormAction is both substance (form) and action (process). So, as a "general metaphysical concept" it may explain both Matter and Mind. For example, Perception is converted into Conception by making associations (relationships) between things (instances) and constructing Generalizations organized by rules of Logic. Thus, isolated instances are combined into whole systems. Bohm also “characterises consciousness as a process in which at each moment, content that was previously implicate is presently explicate, and content which was previously explicate has become implicate”. The brain routes & stores incoming percepts into categories as memory. This process of Categori-zation converts explicit physics into implict meta-physics. The change is not in the individual brain cells, but in the pattern of logical relationships between cells. Hence, Logic is mathe-matical/metaphysical instead of material/physical.

8. Information Field : Modern post-quantum Physics explains the material world in terms of fundamental fields instead of particles. A field is an array of dimensionless mathematical points that extend to infinity.
